Dr. John Shufeldt’s Medical Speaking Topics

With over 30 years of collective experience, Dr. John Shufeldt is a thought leader as a medical entrepreneur who is driven to help improve the healthcare space. He emits a strong energy to challenge and motivate himself as well as other medical professionals to move humanity forward by helping them improve their craft.

Dr. Shufeldt received his BA from Drake University in 1982 and his MD from the University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in 1986. He completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Christ Hospital and Medical Center in 1989, where he spent his final year as Chief Resident. In addition to this, he later earned his MBA in 1995 and Juris Doctor in 2005, both from Arizona State University.

During his lengthy career, he founded the largest pure-play urgent care network in the country in 1993 and was the company’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board until 2010. Through this, Dr. Shufeldt identified, tested and implemented best practices in urgent care where he remains an industry leader. He has opened more than 50 urgent care centers over the course of his career and has a complete understanding of the intricacies of urgent care operation and management.

After serving 20 years in the urgent care industry where he continues to be involved, John stepped into a new direction in healthcare and started MeMD, a virtual care telemedicine portal, which connects patients to providers online and over the phone through a secure custom platform. MeMD delivers healthcare to patients in all 50 states.

John is also the Principal of Shufeldt Consulting, which provides consulting services for urgent care centers and other medical practices locally and nationwide. He continues to launce a multitude of other health and non-healthcare businesses, as well as practice emergency medicine and law.
